While one would not immediately associate Frontier Markets with the industry of technology, one would make a mistake, as increasing amount of production is being moved into emerging markets due to either reduced production costs or closer access to natural resources.

Example of significant presence are:

- solar energy production

- bioelectronics, including healthcare equipment, which is often produced at significant discount to the developed market players

- agricultural innovation, including both biotechnology and machinery production

Many countries, especially in Asia have made technology one of their key strategic areas for development.
